Privacy notice
Last updated 31 October 2026
This notice explains how Byvo collects and uses personal information when you visit byvo.co.uk, ask for a free website preview, contact us, when we contact your business, or when you become a client.
Who we are
Byvo is a trading name of Bilal Akhtar, a sole trader based at 1 Spinningfields, Manchester M3 3EB. We build websites, online shops, booking systems, business systems and apps, and provide SEO, Google and social media advertising services.
Bilal Akhtar, trading as Byvo, is the controller of your personal information. You can contact us at [email protected] or on 07514 443132.
What we collect
- Your free preview request. Your business name, business postcode, a link to your business online, your name, WhatsApp number, email address and the services you are interested in.
- Your messages. Anything you send us by WhatsApp, email, phone or Instagram.
- Public information about your business. To build your preview we look at your website, Google Business Profile, Google reviews and social media pages, including photos, services and opening hours. If you trade under your own name, some of this may be personal information.
- Client information. If you become a client: invoices, payment records and the content you send us to build or run your website, apps or adverts.
- Businesses we contact first. If we contact your business about a preview, we use the business name, phone number and other details published on your Google Business Profile, website or social media, and keep a note of our conversation.
- Website visits. Basic technical information such as your IP address, browser and device, which our hosting provider processes to deliver the website and keep it secure.
You do not have to give us your details, but we need your business name, postcode, name and a way to contact you to build and send your preview.
How we use it
| What we do | Our lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Build your free preview, send it to you and reply to your enquiry | Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interests in responding to businesses that contact us |
| Look at your public online presence, such as your website, Google Business Profile, reviews and social media, to build your preview and show selected photos and reviews on it | Our legitimate interests in showing businesses what we can build for them |
| Contact businesses by phone or message to offer a free preview | Our legitimate interests in finding new clients. You can tell us not to contact you again at any time |
| Follow up on your preview, for example to ask what you think or whether you would like changes | Our legitimate interests. You can tell us to stop at any time |
| Provide our services and manage our work with you | Contract |
| Keep accounting and tax records | Legal obligation |
| Keep our website and systems secure and working properly | Our legitimate interests |
If a preview shows reviews from your customers, we only use what is already public, and we remove any review on request. We only send marketing messages where you have agreed to them or where the law allows, and you can opt out at any time. We do not sell your information, and we do not make decisions about you using automated processing that has legal or similarly significant effects.
Who we share it with
We use trusted providers to run Byvo. They only use your information to provide their service to us.
- Web3Forms delivers our form submissions to our inbox.
- Cloudflare hosts our website, routes our email and hosts the previews and websites we build.
- Google provides our email inbox and, where we use them for you, services such as Google Business Profile and Google Ads.
- Meta runs WhatsApp and Instagram, which we use to message you.
- postcodes.io checks that the postcode you type is a real UK postcode. Only the postcode is sent, along with your IP address as with any web request, when you enter it.
- Our bank, payment providers and accountant, for invoices and accounts.
- People who work with us, such as our developer, under a duty of confidentiality.
If you choose to send your request to us on WhatsApp from our website, your request details are shared with WhatsApp when you send the message.
We may also share information where the law requires us to.
International transfers
Some of our providers, such as Web3Forms, Google, Meta and Cloudflare, may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, we rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as UK adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or the International Data Transfer Agreement and Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Preview requests that do not go ahead: up to 12 months after our last contact, then deleted. We take the preview itself offline if you decide not to go ahead.
- Businesses we contact who do not take up a preview: up to 12 months after our last contact. If you ask us not to contact you again, we keep a short note of that so we respect it.
- Clients: for as long as we work together, then 6 years for tax and legal reasons.
- Messages: kept with the related request or client record, and deleted with it.
- Website logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period for security.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- ask us to limit how we use it
- object to how we use it, including stopping direct marketing at any time
- ask us to transfer information you gave us to another organisation
- withdraw consent where we rely on it
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will reply within one month. There is usually no charge.
Cookies
Our website does not set cookies and does not use advertising or tracking tools. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits, which does not use cookies or follow you across other websites.
